ALK (officially: ALK-Abelló A/S) is a Denmark-based pharmaceutical company which specializes in the development and manufacture of allergy immunotherapy (AIT) products for the treatment of allergy. It is one of the world’s largest makers of allergy immunotherapy products .
Since 1923, when pharmacist Peter Barfod and physician Kaj Baagøe documented the first pharmaceutically manufactured allergy preparation, ALK has led the way in allergy treatment, and our long history of ‘firsts’ include demonstrating how to manufacture allergen extracts, establishing a standardised method for large-scale manufacturing, and introducing new, more convenient treatment formulations.
ALK products are available in 41 countries and approximately 2 million people are currently in treatment using ALK products.
The clinical development programme for ALK’s SLIT-tablets included >22,000 participants.
